Ons Kom Van Hier

Ons kom van hier is the official anthology of the 2024 Diana Ferrus Prize – a poetry prize established to celebrate the diversity of Afrikaans and create space for voices often overlooked in the literary mainstream.

This collection features poets from across South Africa and Namibia writing in Kaaps, Khoi and Standard Afrikaans. Their work reflects resilience, memory, love, loss, and an enduring connection to language and land.

Ons kom van hier is a celebration of Afrikaans in all its voices.

The prize is named in honour of Dr. Diana Ferrus, the celebrated poet and activist whose famous poem led to the return of Sarah Baartman’s remains to South Africa. The award continues her legacy by uplifting poetry that heals, remembers, and unites.
