The Promise

This book covers the intimate journey of Manuel Jacobs who initially became involved on the periphery of the drug trade in the Cape Flats in Cape Town. His father, a former gang member, was paralysed after a gang shooting and Manuel is extremely remorseful.

His father falls... and Manuel is faced with many choices. He has promised his father to stay clear of the drug trade. This is but one of the many promises (and threats) made.

Manuel meets the Khan family who are the opposite of his family. Will Manuel break his promise or embrace the values of the Khan family?

This book is aimed at children aged 13 to 16 years.
